About the Venue The 41st International Symposium on Combustion (ISOC) will be held in the Kyoto International Conference Center (ICC). ICC Kyoto was the result of a public competition held in 1963. From among 195 entries, architect Sachio Otani’s proposal was selected, and construction began in January 1964. You can read more about what informed Otani’s design here. In the years since its opening in 1966, ICC Kyoto has grown to encompass over 70 meeting rooms, as well as a Japanese garden and adjacent hotel. The more than 51,000 square meters of floor space that make up the conference center has been host to over 18,500 conferences and events. ICC Kyoto also boasts a strong commitment to sustainability via initiatives that reduce the use of disposable plastics and food waste. The Combustion Institute is excited to be hosting the 41st ISOC at this historic international conference venue, the first of its kind in Japan.
